If You Give a Mouse a Cookie Quilt

If You Give a Mouse a Cookie is a delightful children’s book about how one thing can lead to another. I thought it was an appropriate name for this quilt.
At the end of March, I saw a picture of a 1930’s double nine patch quilt. I wondered if I had any nine patch units made up that I could make into a few blocks. I began sorting and grouping my nine patch units and then needed fabric for the rails that go between the units.
I had just purchased fabric from the Jane Eyre fabric line that had a dusty blue base. I thought it would look nice alternated with the cream and black print. Well, one thing led to another. Soon I was digging into my black background fabrics, looking for prints I thought might blend in. More fabrics were pulled and blocks started to be made.
Again, one thing led to another. Dusty pink fabric was added for the sashing and soon a quilt was coming together. More fabrics, cutting and sewing and suddenly in less than a month I have created another quilt top. Remember, if you give a mouse a cookie it may lead to so much more.
