My Current Quilting Projects!

Welcome to my quilters journal. I am frequently asked how long did it take for you to make this quilt? This is a hard question to answer because I rarely work on just one project at a time. A couple of times in the last 40 plus years I have timed myself to get an idea of just how long a “quilt” takes to make. What I do know for me is it took the joy out of the quilt making process and turned it into a job. The other major factor is that each quilt is unique, and “time” is relative to the amount of work and skill needed to complete the quilt.
In the end I have learned to make what gives me joy. Because I work on many projects at a time I thought I would show you some of the quilting projects that I'm currently working on in my inner creative sphere.
True Blue
This pattern was on the cover of the January American Patchwork & quilting Magazine. There are three different blocks that are set on point and sashed. Scrap quilts are a staple in my quilting diet. I had several 9-patch scrappy blocks made up that coordinated with the units needed. That was all it took and I was off and running. For three days I played in my scraps. Cutting, sorting and matching fabrics for blocks. I have 3 or 4 times more blocks cut out than I need. Maybe two quilts will be made. As you can see in my photos, I use trays to stack my blocks on. It keeps them tidy and visible.

Fall Back in Time
I have two panel squares by Sandy Gervais that will be featured in this project. At a recent quilt guild meeting the program was on variations of the disappearing 9-patch. I have thirty 9-patch blocks cut which I will turn into disappearing 9-patch blocks. My plan as of now is to frame the panels and see what autumn fabrics I have remaining for the rest of the quilt.

Spinning Blues
I recently finished the quilt top “I’ve Got the Blues”. There were so many stitch and flip corners. I make Half Square Triangles (HST) from the trim away fabric. Four HST make a pinwheel. The pinwheels and leftover fabrics from the quilt are being made into two traditional blocks. A 9-patch and a 4-patch.

Quilt Seeds
There are nine large pumpkin blocks in this pattern set by Lori Holt. Five blocks are done. My sewing machine needs to go to the repair shop, so I spent time kitting the remaining four blocks. The color palette I chose is a lively one.

Scrappy Meets Thrift Challenge 2026
By Taryn Faulkner/Repro Quilt Lover. A 2’’ square Economy Block is the challenge. The piecing process is slow and fussy. I have over 300 blocks cut and clipped. This is a long-term project.
